Chrissi’s latest single ‘ONE IN FIVE!’ sees the singer lean into her vulnerability to create a soulful and introspective track. The song marks Chrissi’s first solo release in two years and is a daring way for her to reestablish her growing presence in the industry.
The song begins with delicate piano, deep breaths and the rustling of pages. These first 11 seconds before Chrissi begins singing really set the scene for what’s to come. As Chrissi’s soulful vocals come in, the emotiveness and introspection of the track are enhanced. The choruses are uplifting and a reminder that with perseverance, rewards will come.
The song’s lyrics are adapted from a journal entry detailing intrusive thoughts experienced by the singer. This raw lyricism and ability to open herself up to her audience is something which sets Chrissi apart from other artists; she is not afraid to be honest and to be seen.
Dressed in a leopard print dress and brown leather coat, Chrissi is a vision straight out of the 90s in the single’s visualiser, directed by Flora Scott. The warm tones and minimalist decor in the apartment in the video give it a welcoming feel, which mirrors the honesty of the song’s lyrics. Chrissi is seen talking to her therapist who is (plot twist) portrayed by Chrissi herself. This is a fitting visual to go alongside the vulnerability of the song.
