After an incredible debut last year, hailed as the first of its kind in Glasgow, core.fest is back—bigger, better, and LOUDER. An exciting mix of over 30 legendary and fresh acts, both homegrown and international, will perform across 3 days and 2 venues (3 stages). This year’s core.fest promises to be a true “celebration of noise,” as the tagline states.

Confirmed as the headline and closing act for Sunday the 4th is the experimental grind project Empire State Bastard. This duo, composed of Simon Neil (Biffy Clyro) and Mike Vennart (Oceansize), will be joined on stage by Dave Lombardo (Slayer) and Naomi Macleod (Bitch Falcon). They will perform tracks from their September 2023 debut album, Rivers of Heresy.

Thanks to their growth from last year’s success, core.fest has managed to score big names in the hardcore scene. Notable acts sharing the stages with Empire State Bastard will be Show Me the Body (NYC post-hardcore), Gilla Band (Irish post-punk noise), Employed to Serve (British metal-core), The Fall of Troy (American post-hardcore), and Part Chimp (English noise-rock), among many others.

On the slightly smaller but no less artful side, core.fest has collected local acts like Coffin Mulch (old school death metal) and The Rhubarb (stoner doom metal). Both bands have several headline shows under their belts. Still, they are just a drop in the ocean of talent that will be showcased at core.fest this year.
