Brain Leak have arrived and are ready to make their mark on the music industry. Even their name draws you in, but what’s most enticing about the Mancunian band is their bold sound and honest songwriting. Drawing on post-grunge, rock, and punk, the group’s latest single, ‘Skin Remembers’, is an energy-infused and introspective track.
Lead vocalist Tara-Gabriella Engelhardt showcases her range on ‘Skin Remembers’, going from half-spoken verses to melodic choruses. Gritty electric guitars dominate the track, making it feel melancholic, but the song has a danceable quality to it at the same time, owing to its catchy choruses and driving beat.
The track’s daring sound contrasts with the vulnerability of its lyrics. Lines like “I’m so extreme and sickly sweet / I’ll let you seep deep until you tell me that it’s never” illustrate Engelhardt’s signature confessional songwriting style.
The single is accompanied by a music video, which perfectly captures the track’s grunge vibe with flashing lights and DIY-style footage.
