The last twelve months have already begun as a landmark year for London-based soul powerhouse Nectar Woode. The winter of 2025 saw her accompany fellow jazz aficionado Joy Crookes on her EU/UK tour, and this February’s BRITs Week,in aid of War Child, gave Woode the spotlight ahead of Olivia Dean’s endlessly enchanting set. All this came as a precursor to her debut record; her discography prior only housing a triptych of studio EPs. The announcement for ‘Naturally’ – slated for release on June 26 comes accompanied by the unveiling of its title track.
Opening with her instantly recognisable honeyed vocals, subtle sun-tinged instrumentation, and dittying percussion allows for Woode’s poetic songwriting to take the forefront. Overtly euphoric, ‘Naturally’ encapsulates the all-encompassing relief and bliss of cultivating acceptance from your person, and “being excited for the future”. Though short in its length, coming in at just over the two-minute mark, ‘Naturally’ is by no means lacking. The cut comes overflowing with jubilance and exuberance, and is, simply, the perfect cut for spring blossoming into summer.
When discussing the single release, Woode notes: “The project starts with dark energy and doubt but knowing what I want and how to sieve through the BS to get to the other side. ‘Naturally’ is the finale of accepting and being happy with those you love.”
Receiving praise for her effortless blending of genres, from Neo-soul to jazz and gospel, and Elton John labelling her as “amazing” during his Rolling Stone cover interview, 2026 is set to be Nectar Woode’s year.
