As Barcelona’s iconic Parc del Fòrum prepares to welcome music lovers once more, Primavera Sound 2025 stands poised to make history. For the first time in the festival’s 25-year run, all three headline slots are occupied by women, marking a significant moment in an industry still working toward equal representation.

The trio of headliners showcase the vast array of contemporary female artistry. Charli XCX is here for the reprise of brat summer, bringing her genre-defying sound, while Sabrina Carpenter offers polished yet tongue-in-cheek pop with an almost vintage sheen. The triumvirate is completed by Chappell Roan, the theatrical powerhouse whose queer anthems and unapologetic self-expression have skyrocketed her onto the global stage.

Between them, they cover the spectrum of contemporary womanhood – experimental, traditional, rebellious — all taking up space without asking for permission.

This year’s focus on female headliners feels both symbolic and substantive. In placing these three distinct artists at the forefront, the festival isn’t simply making a statement about gender equality — it’s recognising the artistic force these women represent in today’s musical landscape.

25 years on, Primavera Sound has evolved from an indie rock affair to something that both reflects and shapes musical culture.

Beyond the headliners, the festival maintains its reputation for thoughtful curation. LCD Soundsystem, FKA twigs, HAIM, and Fontaines D.C. round out a lineup that balances established acts with emerging talent. The electronic music selection remains particularly strong, with artists like Floating Points and Paul Kalkbrenner ensuring the festival’s nighttime energy.

Tickets sold out months ago and it’s absolutely no surprise!

Primavera Sound 2025 is shaping up to be a very special festival indeed.
