The coffee steams, a fragrant haze,
I sit and watch, in a thoughtful daze.
Each face a story, passing by,
Beneath the surface, where truths lie.
The student hunched, with books piled high,
A universe of knowledge, in their eye.
The businessman, with hurried pace,
A weight of worries, etched on his face.
The young mom soothes, a crying child,
A love so fierce, untamed and wild.
They’re just fleeting glimpses, in my day,
But sonder whispers, “There’s more to say.”
What dreams they chase, what fears they hide,
What silent battles, deep inside.
Each life a journey, complex and vast,
A hidden world, moving so fast.
The coffee cools, the moment slips,
But sonder lingers on my lips.
A newfound sense of empathy’s art,
To see the soul in every heart.
