The world’s a stage, a sprawling set,
Where extras drift, with stories unmet.
In countless scenes, we play our fleeting part,
A glance, a gesture, a work of silent art.
The city hummed the soundtrack to my life,
Or so I thought in youthful, foolish pride.
With me as the hero, standing open eyed
Ignoring the ghosts that are starting to arise.
Living simply yet a star in my own right,
While I pass through the shadows, lost in fading light.
Laughing aloud, a lead’s triumphant sound,
And those passerbys walk on, waiting to be found.
The lens shifts, a new perspective gleams,
Each extra’s life, a vibrant, untold dream.
The background softens, focus starts to clear,
Revealing worlds, where hidden lives appear.
The waitress hums, a soulful song,
The taxi driver, a monarch all along.
Each life unfolds, a movie yet unseen,
A hidden epic, a vibrant scene.
We’re not mere players on a crowded stage,
But annotated lines on life’s rich page.
The revelation dawns, simple yet vast,
Each extra shines, their brilliance meant to last.
The street’s a stage, a grand and lively show,
We’re all performers, in rhythms soft and low.
I thought I led, with ego as my guide,
While others drifted, on life’s relentless tide.
The waitress smiles, a grace that softly gleams,
The busker sings, lost in melodic dreams.
I saw them as backdrop, in my self-made play,
But now I see them living out their own day.
A shift occurs and to my surprise,
The spotlight fades from my presumptuous eyes.
The waitress dreams of stories yet untold,
Her world expands, courageous, brave, and bold.
The busker’s song, a melody so deep,
His hidden story, secrets he will keep.
No longer shadows in my narrow view,
But stars ascend, in skies forever new.
Each life a film, with joys and sorrows spun,
A vibrant tapestry, uniquely and richly done.
Sonder arrives, the truth begins to bloom,
Each person a thread, in life’s vast, weaving loom.
