Olivia Rodrigo may be singing about heartbreak on her recent album, but her latest project is centered on celebration and empowerment. Using her platform to celebrate the women who inspired her, Rodrigo has created an all-women festival that is not only uplifting women and girls, but is reshaping the image of what it’s like to be a female rockstar. The festival was inspired by the influential 1990s Lilith Fair, created by Sarah McLachlan, which showcased female artists at a time when major festival lineups were overwhelmingly dominated by male performers. During an interview with Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America”, Rodrigo spoke about wanting to create a modern version of the festival that brings together artists she admires while fostering a sense of connection, creativity, and empowerment.
More than a music festival, Daisy Chain Fields reflects a growing movement toward creating spaces where women are celebrated not as exceptions, but as the standard. In the festival’s press release, the teen pop artist states that she “had an image in my head of girls sitting underneath a tree, making their daisy chains or flower crowns or friendship bracelets,” adding that she likes “the idea of a daisy chain, that we can all be individual links in this chain that is larger than the individual. ” That vision captures the festival’ s purpose: bringing together women across generations and genres to celebrate not only their individual artistry, but also the collective strength, creativity, and community they create when they support one another.
By bringing together legendary performers alongside today’s rising stars, Rodrigo is building a bridge between generations of female artists while giving fans a chance to witness the strength of women in music on one stage. The lineup features artists such as Stevie Nicks, Chappell Roan, Doechii, and KATSEYE, all coming together in support of charitable organizations that benefit women and girls. Although Rodrigo has kept many details under wraps, fans can expect memorable collaborations, surprise guest appearances, and once-in-a-lifetime moments that celebrate the power of women supporting women.
Beyond the performances, the festival is partnering with organizations dedicated to advancing opportunities for women and girls, with proceeds benefiting nonprofits that focus on education, reproductive health, and gender equity.
