Mercury and BRIT Award winner, and recently appointed Southbank Centre Meltdown curator Little Simz has re-emerged in 2025 with the electrifying “Flood”. Accompanying the release is the announcement of her upcoming record “Lotus”, prepped and ready to join her already illustrious discography.
With “Lotus” signifying the renewal and growth of this bold new chapter for Little Simz, “Flood” offers drilling percussive beats and husky bars that exhibit the deeper and richer side of her range.

Returning with lent vocals after previously collaborating on “Point and Kill” and “Silhouette”, long-time collaborator Obongjayer offers a melodic, staccato layer to the cut. Marking their first joint-effort since “Offence” in 2019, Moonchild Sanelly and Obongjayer together relay in South-African tongues before proclaiming “I am the light”. The dark and rhythmic delivery makes for an infectious call-to-arms soundscape as Little Simz states her terms, “Number one is play your position/ Don’t trust all the hands that you shake… Number two, don’t take it personal / This place is infested with snakes”.
At just under the three-minute mark, “Flood” marks a clear change of pace from the lighter melodics of “Two Worlds Apart”, and brighter, crisp delivery of “Fever”.
