What’s the meaning behind the name LAPD and why did you pick it?

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and Power Disco is a movement. I’m claiming what I’ve built in my life. There have been a lot of obstacles and loss and LAPD is about coming together and keeping the dream alive.

Is there any thing about yourself that you’d like new fans finding you through this tour to know?

I’d like them to know how meaningful it is for us to experience these shows with them and that their energy and love makes it so special for us.

What was your favourite memory from the UK leg of tour and what are you looking forward to for the US leg?

This UK tour was a magical and delirious dream. The fans made us feel so fully charged up, it was insane. My favorite memory was when I stood on the barricade in Manchester and the fans held me up. We also rode a cyclone swing in Edinburgh that whipped us 100 feet in the air above the Scott Monument and we thought we were going to die.

Your song “Powered Up” would definitely be my favourite out of all of your work that you’ve dropped but what would you say would be your favourite single, EP or album?

On the UK tour, we played ‘Psychic Change’ and ‘Looking for a Thrill’ . They’ll be coming out in a few months but ‘Looking for a Thrill’ is my favorite right now.

What is your favourite thing about touring? Any standout moments or fan interactions from this tour?

My favorite thing about touring is getting to meet new people and experience new places. There are so many characters and jokes and everything is so exciting and hectic. When fans gave us bracelets and art work it was so touching. Their energy was unmatched and it was palpable. It’s so fun to perform for a crowd like that because they contribute so much. You can’t not have a good time.

Are there any goals for yourself (musically and personally) that you wish to achieve in 2025?

To release music that makes us feel cool and have fun and that people listening or seeing a live show will feel cool and have fun. Also, to increase my pull-up reps and get more jacked.

Can you explain to us your musical process? where do you draw your inspiration from and what’s your process of creating your music.

Most of my songs start from phrases, particularly the chorus or title which is the climax of the song. The best songwriting advice I’ve been given was to write phrases every single day. I write them every morning on a walk and record melodies into my voice memos. I don’t pay attention to my opinions on them, I just let it fly, and then pair melodies with phrases when I’m putting the song together. If a phrase and melody sparks some emotion in me then I take it. I’d say 1 out of 100 are usable, so I think it’s most important to keep writing and trying every day. It’s also super important for me to collaborate with other people. Find people that are supportive and excited. I’m really lucky to have this band and new project, Jordy, Kai, Christoffer, Brad, Collins, Jacob, Janthavy and Cody are all friends who add so much to the life of this project. Music and art is always a collaborative effort.

If you could give advice to the version of yourself that first started music, what advice would you give?

Listen to your mom, don’t give up and focus on what you are grateful for.

We always ask everyone we interview if they could recommend a song that’s in your personal playlist for our Karma! readers

A Life of Illusion by Joe Walsh. Also, my new song Into the Night, released on Jan. 21st. It’s about facing the shadow and embracing your inner darkness to create harmony within and without.

Whenever we interview anyone at Karma! Magazine, we ask what colour they are. What colour would you describe yourself and why?

Deep in my heart I’m baby blue.  I long for a state of calmness, peace and freedom from conflict but sometimes I block myself from access to it.

What can we expect from you for your next releases?

This year will be very exciting. I’m super lucky to have so many cool collaborators and I plan on having several single releases, music videos and an album out in 2025. These songs give me presence and a release from suffering and I hope they can give that to the listeners.
