Raised in North Carolina, the Nigerian-born singer-songwriter has been a steady rising star on the alternative music scene since 2019. Uwade has played support for The Strokes as well as Sylvan Esso, and for fans of Fleet Foxes, you may recognise her vocals from the opening sentiments of ‘Wading In Waist-High Water’, off their fourth studio album, ‘Shore’. Her most recent release, ‘Call It A Draw’, offers a dynamic peek behind the curtain of Uwade.

Boasting cerebral and expansive cuts, Uwade’s personal discography challenges stereotypes as she flits between genres, refusing to be confined and defined. This new track’s lush vocals dominate a swirling landscape of layered instruments, marrying dreamy soul with insatiable alternative-pop. Her intricate intonations detail emotive narratives and interpersonal relationships, as Uwade confesses: “I’d risk it all to save you”.

‘Call It A Draw’ is the first teaser from her upcoming debut record ‘Florilegium’. The Latin meaning of florilegia is “a gathering of flowers”, and the Medieval Latin literary use was to describe a compilation or collection of written excerpts and sentiments of various sources, usually botanical in nature.  “I offer these songs as flowers of gratitude to those who have seen me through my life’, Uwade notes, “I share them with the world as a reminder to cherish opportunities for renewal”.

Uwade’s upcoming project is set to be her most exciting, raw and personal offering to date. You can pre-save ‘Florilegium’ ahead of its April 25th realease. Uwade also has a string of tour dates scheduled throughout Spring, with one London stop the 26th of March, and throughout the USA starting the 25th of April.
