Embarking on a short headline tour, Leeds-founded guitar-driven indie quartet L’objectif take to the stage at McChuills, Glasgow.

Having played a sold-out Deaf Institute in Manchester the previous night, the band are riding on an adrenaline high, the room bursting with energy. McChuills is an audience favourite for local gigs, so the venue was perfect for L’objectif’s second Glasgow headline.

Before they took to the stage, the audience were warmed up by McCandles and Levengrove. Bringing local Glasgow bands induced high spirits and they got the crowd engaged before the headliner. Momentum was high.

As time neared closer, it was time for the main act. L’objectif are fresh off of a single release for their latest track ‘Burbank’. Only a few months into the year, they have released two singles, and they joined fan favourites amongst the upbeat, guitar-fuelled setlist.

The duo’s sound has evolved greatly over their eight years together. Not only a guitar-led band – in an age where it is rapidly gaining popularity again – their sound traverses multiple genres. Their talent on diverse instruments and confidence on stage makes the set entirely captivating.

Even though this date is only L’objectif’s second headline show in Glasgow, frontman Saul Kane carries the confidence of someone performing infront of a stadium crowd. Along with their danceable, energetic and jangly guitar music, the band carry themselves with charisma and style. A well-curated image brings their set together, and the chemistry they have as a relatively fresh duo is extremely impressive.

The night sees L’objectif play a 13 song setlist, an amalgamation of old and brand-new shiny tunes that equally got the crowd moving, alongside ‘Burbank’ and other new tracks, the band play their most popular songs ‘Same Thing’, ‘Drive in Mind’, and ‘The Dance You Sell’ – fast becoming indie classics. No matter the release date, each song is received with the same enthusiasm by the buzzing crowd.

It’s safe to say L’objectif have a bright future ahead of them and are definitely a band to keep an eye on in future – whether it’s new music, or live shows.
