Sunflower Thieves’ latest single, ‘Overdose’, is a soft, dreamy track about the transition your relationship with your parents goes through when you move out.

The song starts off with the sound of birds chirping, before an acoustic guitar and soft vocals come in. The song has an emotional and thoughtful feeling to it from the get-go, drawing on the duo’s signature style of songwriting. Ethereal, delicate harmonies enhance the track and inject emotion into it, enhancing the vulnerability of the song.

The lyric “I wish I’d known you when you were my age” is simple and touching, illustrating the duo’s strong relationship with each of their parents.

In the bridge, an unexpected guitar solo and loud drums create a feeling of nostalgia and longing. This adds a slight rock element to the song, marking a departure for the duo whose usual sound is gentler.

‘Overdose’ was released via Mahogany Songs on the 9th of April and is available to stream now. You can watch the music video for it here and if you want to catch them live, take a look at their upcoming tour dates below!
