Redefining the definition of how a music festival should be, the Øya Festival in Oslo is one of the largest festivals held in Norway and is due to take place in a beautiful eco-friendly venue, accompanied by a lineup of pure talent and musical genius.
From its modest roots in 1999 to its modern-day form, the four-day festival is set to host up to 60,000 festival goers and will run from Wednesday 6th August to Saturday 9th August 2025. However, it won’t just be the acts who are breathtaking, but the atmosphere and scenery, as it will be held in the beautiful Tøyenparken, surrounded by tree dotted hills and flourishes of green all around. Celebrations can also be attended through several club night events around the city on the evening of Tuesday 5th August, to prepare for the joyous, music filled days ahead.
Headliners include star-studded acts such as Chappell Roan, who will kick off the opening night by performing for the first time in Norway, along with Grammy winner Charlie XCX, and rock icons Queens of the Stone Age. But the acts don’t just stop there, as Fontaines DC, Yung Lean, Bladee, Beth Gibbons of Portishead, and Wet Leg will no doubt grace the crowd with their incredible stage presence. Girl in Red also returns to her Nordic roots to headline with a heartfelt alt-pop set. The festival offers an incredible setlist of emerging, yet to be discovered artists, such as Honningbara, Daniel Romano’s Outfit, Anna of the North, and many more!
This festival isn’t just a chance to see some stellar act; it’s an opportunity to be part of something bigger. Boasting an astonishing 100% renewable energy usage, with approximately 75% of its waste being recycled, alongside enforcing no single-use plastics, sustainability isn’t just an aim here, it’s an ethos. This is a progressive music festival, where the crowd and world will be at one.
In short, the Øyafestivalen promises 4 days of unmissable performances and live acts, while also encouraging and promoting the chance to harmonise with the world around us. This festival is seeping with culturally rich Scandinavian creativity, making the Øya Festival in the heart of Oslo the place to be.
