As Rome Burns is a up and coming energetic band that brings light to both popular genres punk and grunge. They formed in 2024 and are already becoming a memorable band and their new EP ‘Reactor’ establishes this unique sound.
‘Animal’ kicks off the album; the vocals alongside a piercing guitar perfectly compliment each other and as the drums kick in it gives the entire song an ambience of energetic chaos. The masterful shouting and lyrics give the image of an animal. The beat carries that energetic energy and although the song drags through the same rhythm it becomes more and more encapsulating.
‘I Am Your Enemy’ follows, this song lets the listener to travel through the emotions and the process of one becoming an ‘enemy’ to someone. The drummer takes over this entire song giving it anger it demands, as the lead singer blends in peacefully with their dark voice. The song appears to challenge the media’s portrayal of strong men allowing the listener to question who is the enemy within the song: themselves or the media?
The last song ‘I Think You Should Leave’ is significantly different to the other songs on the album. I feel it brings together the album and allows the listener to become enthralled into their unique sound. The song speeds up and slows down through multiple points as the lead singer repeats ‘I think you should leave’. As the song comes to an end it grows in aggression not only from the singer but the entire band, ending with complete silence. It allows each band members talent as each song allows them to show off their skills.
As Rome Burns breakthrough album ‘Reactor’ is a perfect example of their ability to create sensational music catering to a punk audience and striking through the genre. Their new EP establishes this new direction this band is one to put on your ‘to watch’ list of upcoming bands ready to breakthrough the charts and stadiums.
