Last weekend, ‘crunchy pop’ duo Lucky Iris played a set at LAL with rising star and party boy Babymorocco. Not long after, the pair released their third single off their soon to be released mixtape. ‘heart 4 heart’ is a fiery and intense song – in all the best ways – and it’s sure to have listeners ready to hit the dance floor.
The song is an explosive hyper-pop anthem that’s perfect for a club night. With crunchy and synthetic textures, the track is a sonic trip through the Lucky Iris universe. The song is intense and has a somewhat volatile sound, which perfectly encapsulates the zealous and hedonistic nightclub culture that made a major comeback following Charli XCX’s 2024 album ‘Brat’.
Starting off in the game as producers and songwriters, Maeve and Jasper have transformed themselves into an entirely new act, emerging from the bedroom-pop cocoon as colourful hyper-pop butterflies. ‘heart 4 heart’ shows the pair’s flair for experimental, electronic, and futuristic soundscapes.
Speaking about the track, Maeve says “It’s exposing in its brutal soundscape and honest lyrics. I’ve never been one for keeping anything in, I wear my heart on my sleeve and all that, but it hasn’t always served me very well…always open but easily exposed. So this song is about reclaiming that vulnerability because I think it’s actually one of my best qualities. People can say I fall in love too hard, my response is, try falling at all.”
It comes as no surprise that Lucky Iris have shared stages with LYNKS, Dorian Electra, Kai Bosch, Hannah Diamond, Bimini, and Jessica Winter this year alone. ‘heart 4 heart’ follows ‘i just want to dance’ and ‘play me like a speaker’ as the third single from the duo’s upcoming mixtape, ‘fall in love with the dj’, which is due for release on the 23rd of January.
