Five days on Óbuda Island in Budapest, 11–15 August is already the selling point, but honestly the women on this year’s Sziget lineup deserve their own conversation. All the way from the Main Stage down to the Hungarian Stage, where rapper Sisi and Karen Dió are flying the flag for local talent, here are the artists who already have us mentally packing our bags.
Off the back of their sixth studio album Everybody Scream and its corresponding tour, Florence + the Machine are one of Sziget’s most exciting headliners. Everybody knows that a Florence show feels more like a séance than a concert, and there’s no doubt she will bring that same energy to a festival setting. Her unique ability to make an audience of thousands feel like they’re having a deeply private, intimate experience is unmatched. Her commanding presence will turn Sziget’s main stage into an altar, surrounded by people in full costume, faces painted, ready to surrender to the sound.
Also off the back of a recent tour, Zara Larsson has truly become a cultural moment this past year. The sparkly it-girl of pop is known for making her concerts feel like a celebration, inviting her audience into a genuinely liberating dance party. That energy sits perfectly alongside another much-anticipated performer, Natasha Bedingfield, whose “Unwritten” has become an anthem for navigating the sometimes scary realities of life. This festival is a chance to let your hair down and be free.
Wolf Alice are the kind of band that can put a crowd in a complete trance with an ethereal ballad and then have the same crowd jumping thirty seconds later when the guitars kick in. Ellie Rowsell is a rock star in the truest sense of the word, and if you haven’t seen her command a stage yet, this is your chance.
Of course we can’t forget Paris Paloma. Her music is beautiful on its own terms, but it also has something to say: about feminism, about resisting the flattening of art through AI, and about the political dimension of folk music that somehow got lost for a while. She’s bringing it back, and doing it with songs that are guaranteed to give you chills.
Ashnikko will make the stage erupt in a rainbow. Incredible music, incredible visuals, magnetic energy — she is not one to be missed. Jorja Smith, Nia Archives, Tash Sultana, Sigrid, Lambrini Girls and Peggy Gou are just a few more names to look out for on a lineup that frankly has no right to be this good.
