Every year since 1998 audiences have traveled to Hill Farm in Oxfordshire for the annual Truck Festival. The festival was founded on the belief that festivals such as Glastonbury had become a cumbersome and expensive journey for the average festival goer. Truck aims to mix up their lineup and provide a more intimate experience than the large events that dominate the summer. This year the lineup is stacked with familiar indie darlings, breakout stars and old reliable legends, always providing something for everyone.
CMAT is the first headliner this year kicking off the festival on Thursday, continuing her incredible year as Dunboyne’s new pop-princess. One would need to be living under a rock to avoid hearing a CMAT tune, or from seeing her bright red hair. Following the release of her third album ‘Euro Country’, CMAT has been on a blitz around the world, playing her indie-pop, blues and rock tunes into the night. She will kindly be gracing our presence this year at Truck.
Another headliner to get excited for this year is Primal Scream, who will take the main stage on Friday. A band going since 1982, Primal Scream are best known from their hit trip-hop album ‘Screamadelica’, although that is not all they have to offer. The band spans industrial rock, blues and indie pop. When Bobby Gillespie walks out onstage to that microphone, anything could happen beneath that beautiful head of hair.
Truck continues it’s musical throwback lineup with an abundance of 2000s and 2010s indie bands; The Macabees, Two Door Cinema Club, The Wombats, The Kaiser Chiefs and The Vaccines. What a selection! Sing your heart out to your favourite hits and discover their new music since. Each band deserve their place as headliners and will deliver an incredible atmosphere for the festival ahead.
Besides the headliners, Truck is packed this year with incredible new talent. In terms of acts worth seeing, Florence Road, an indie-rock band from Wicklow, Ireland, have been making substantial waves through the music scene. From gaining internet notoriety from their TikTok covers, to releasing their fantastic debut EP ‘Fall Back’ , to opening for Addison Rae, these are definitely the band to watch. Alongside them, a band rising through the ranks is Keo. Formed in London, England, Keo have been circulating the London club circuit and gaining in popularity every inch of the way. Somewhere between grunge, shoegaze and alternative rock, they fill a heavier gap in the Truck lineup and guarantee a hell of show.
