Zara Larsson, the Swedish pop princess, has brought back the 2000s summer aesthetic, leading summer 2025 with the anthem ‘Midnight Sun’. The second single and title track of her fifth studio album (releasing 26 September) is amongst some of Larsson’s most memorable promotional material to date. Using the momentum of the dolphin ‘Symphony’ meme, Larsson has taken the aesthetic of a summery utopian dreamscape and given it a 2000s maximalist makeover. Think keychains, crop tops, sequins, rhinestones, skinny jeans and a vibrant colour palette, all bundled up into a pop/house hybrid reminding you to literally touch grass.

Her new era is finally reaching international status with Larsson being the supporting act to Tate McRae’s ‘Miss Possessive Tour’ on the American leg. Somewhat stealing the limelight with her effortlessly powerful vocals and enticing choreo, Larsson is only just winning over American audiences. With 26 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Larsson has been a huge artist around Europe for over a decade, with singles like ‘Lush Life’, ‘Ain’t My Fault’ and ‘Never Forget You’ previously dominating the pop charts.
With four million (and rising) views, the ‘Midnight Sun’ music video is the visual epitome of Larsson’s summer dreamscape era. Directed by photographer and creative director, Charlotte Rutherford, Larsson takes centre stage throughout the video, solo dancing through crystal clear waters and frolicking in green pastures, pausing only to take a sip of a bottle of ‘Midnight Sun’ branded water. The 2000s stylistic references continue with hand drawn overlays and slideshow-esque lyrics appearing on screen.

As the supporting act on the Miss Possessive US tour, Larsson has been styled by Caterina Ospina (@cateoniwiki), who also worked with Larsson on her latest music video ‘Crush’ and her Capitol Summertime Ball appearance. Seamlessly blending with the wardrobe set out by Baker in the ‘Midnight Sun’ music video, Ospina elevates the aesthetic for every appearance across America, successfully creating a memorable look for Larsson alongside McRae’s more utility focused style.
Throughout the tour, Ospina has collaborated with a handful of small designers to commission custom pieces that curate the perfect circa 2000s Euro summer wardrobe. Mini skirts, mini tops, charms and all the rhinestones you could ever need have been the core of this tour’s styling.
